COVID-19 Announcement

May 5, 2020 By Dan Sommer

Dear friends and supporters,
In light of the evolving global COVID-19 pandemic, Singing OUT is sad to announce the cancellation of our May 2020 concert. Please do all that you can to help keep everyone safe and healthy, especially the most vulnerable members of our community. During this time of social distancing, our board of directors, staff, committees and members continue to meet virtually to ensure that we are ready to launch our new season. We can’t wait to perform for you again, when the time is right.

With all our love,
Singing OUT

Dramaturg/Creative Advisor (Contract/Part-time)

May 5, 2020 By Dan Sommer

With funding from the Trillium Foundation, we are working on a special project called “Open Secrets: Toronto’s Queer Histories” which we will feature stories of members of our chorus who identify as Black, Indigenous or People of Colour. We are looking for someone who is affiliated with these communities to educate and inspire community members in the creation of themes and stories which will form the narrative backbone of the concert and to explore musical genres and choral song choices that would illuminate these stories.

This contract is designed to take place over the next 5 months and meetings will be conducted remotely so it is an ideal project to work on during this time of restricted social interaction. This hiring closes on May 14th.

Singing Out, Toronto’s LGBTQ+ Community Chorus presents: Your Holiday Playlist

Saturday December 7th at 3:00pm & 7:30pm.

At the Jane Mallet Theatre
St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, 27 Front St E, Toronto, ON M5E 1B4

Please join us for our annual holiday concert. This year we celebrate the holidays with a traditional mix of songs, stories, dancing, and fun. Join us as we sing some old classics, contemporary hits and a few non traditional Holiday songs as well.

Singing Out was founded in 1992 by John Schrag with a handful of members at a turbulent time in the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bi, transgender, queer, and allies) community’s history. Currently numbering 140 members, we are the largest non-auditioned, mixed voice, LGBTQ+ community chorus in Canada. True to our beginnings, we strive to be a voice for the community, embracing Pride, Music, and Belonging as our mission.

Tickets: General Admission $27 Online, $15 Students, $32 at the door
