Toronto, ON (June 10, 2023) – On Saturday, local MPP Peter Tabuns attended the Spring concert of Singing Out, Toronto’s Largest 2SLGBTQIA+ Choir to hear about the impact that a$14,500 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) has had since receiving it last year. The Resilient Communities Fund grant was used to purchase new musical equipment needed to navigate the unpredictability of securing rehearsal and performance spaces after the pandemic.
“I am very pleased that Ontario, through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, had made this critical grant to assist Singing Out Chorus through a time of great challenge,” said Peter Tabuns, MPP for Toronto-Danforth.
A portion of the grant was also used to provide the group with much needed training to strengthen its Board of Directors and drive inclusion and diversity policies. The project will be completed in August when Singing Out will have finalized the training for the board and artistic staff.
“The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant is huge, it has given us flexibility to operate regardless of the unpredictable circumstances and it has given us the push towards building a more mature organization,” said Angel Carrillo, President of the Board of Directors, Singing Out.
